Cardi.Health uncovers that at least 4 out of 5 most prominent cardiovascular risk factors can be prevented

Survey data released by Cardi.Health, a personalized cardiovascular health management company, has defined the top 5 factors that accelerate heart disease in the US. The company has shared that 4 out of 5 of these factors can be prevented.


The survey analyzed answers from 11,408 people with cardiovascular health issues such as high blood pressure or high blood cholesterol levels. It was found that 75% of people said they were not physically active, while 74% had a body mass index that indicates obesity. Among other essential factors common among the people surveyed were having food allergies (28%), diabetes (15%), and smoking (6%).


“There is a direct connection between lack of physical activity and poor cardiovascular health. Exercise lowers blood pressure, increases oxygen amount in the blood, and strengthens the heart muscle. Also, it helps prevent the development of diabetes, maintain weight, and reduce hypertension, all of which are independent risk factors for heart disease,” said Robertas Pranevičius, MD, Medical Advisor for Cardiovascular Disease Management at Cardi.Health.


These findings are supported by other research. 25% of Americans are not physically active at all, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Lack of physical activity is one of the most common defining characteristics among people seeking help with their cardiovascular health. 


“74% of people who have heart problems are obese, according to the survey. This finding is consistent with other scientific research and proves that obesity is one of the main factors that accelerate cardiovascular diseases,” said Pranevičius.


Obesity is the most common chronic disease among people who struggle with cardiovascular health. There are plenty of reasons why it develops, including genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors, but an unhealthy diet and lack of exercise are the leading factors that are responsible for it. 

Obesity raises the bad (LDL) cholesterol levels in your body vessels, which increases blood pressure and harms the cardiovascular system. 

Other preventable factors that accelerate health disease are diabetes and smoking. Type 2 diabetes develops highly due to lifestyle factors such as obesity and lack of physical activity. Smoking is just as complex a topic that is driven by an addiction to nicotine and can be accelerated by high stress. 


The key types of activities to prevent health disease are constant health monitoring, a healthy diet, staying physically active, avoiding stress, and drinking enough water.
